The History Of JiuJitsuMania is a comprehensive multi-media website serving all aspects of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community including practitioners, instructors, competitors, fans and related industry businesses. was founded in 2011 by publishing executive Dr. Tom Deters and Joe Mullings.


Deters is former Editor in Chief of Muscle & Fitness magazine and Executive Vice President of Weider Publications. He has worked with dozens of professional athletes, published hundreds of articles and delivered numerous seminars on peak training method, performance nutrition, diet strategy and supplementation.


Mullings is the owner of an elite MMA training facility, The Armory. He has also been the Performance / Strength & Conditioning Coach for UFC Fighters Hermes Franca, Kurt Pellegrino, Matt Wiman, Edson Barboza and Luiz Cane. His progressive approach and unique perspective on combat athlete training has produced elite level success with his fighters. Both founders hold advanced belts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Ark Light Media Group, LLC was formed as the holding company for the various intellectual property and other media assets including over twenty other sister websites.  Ark Light Media Group, LLC is headquartered in south Florida.


As a community and industry hub, delivers technique learning material, videos, forums, polls, star athlete interviews and the most dense sports performance nutrition as well as strength and conditioning information in the industry. also has an on-line store, which will provide product offerings such as apparel and gear as well as intellectual educational property including technique instruction programs and webinars, allowing students to learn via specialized packaging and bundling of materials in a series format.

In addition to, Ark Light Media Group, LLC owns and operates dozens of other websites related to various aspects of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu such as , , . supports the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community through various charitable organizations and causes. Most notably, Joe Mullings formed the not-for-profit corporation “Combat Athletes For Nova Friburgo” which raised money to aid a small city in south Brazil which was devastated by flooding and mudslides. Nova Friburgo is the hometown of many world champion jiu jitsu and mixed martial arts fighters including Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight contender Edson Barboza Junior, Abu Dhabi Champion Pablo Popovitch and fight manager Alex Davis.
